What's YOUR Role?

January 19, 2017

Greetings my dearest Brothers and Sisters –in-Christ, Wow! I love how God works. Again, as I sit in my office pondering the future of LCSC and attempting to figure out my part in God’s great plan for this special place, He again reminded me (through my morning devotions) that I am never alone on this journey. Likewise, He reminded me that we, as a collective body of believers, are equally equipped to assist Him in the fulfillment of His grand plan. Ephesians 4:11-16 says, “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (NIV). While the mission of LCSC “is to provide a Christian camping environment, challenging youth to love and serve Christ”, our mission, as a whole, is to use our God-given gifts to make sure that we are right with God so that He can use us to help others reconcile with Him. Some of you are great teachers. If that is you, then I encourage you to come and teach our youth, this summer. Some of you are great servants and/or laborers. If that is you, then I encourage you to come to LCSC and serve. Help us finish the cabins. Help us mow. Help us prepare the grounds. Some of you are blessed beyond measure, financially-speaking. If that is you, then I encourage you to give back to God, generously, what He has generously given you. When it’s all said and done, we are likely going to have to pay off approximately $500,000.00 in debt. God may have very well blessed you, so that you could bless His kingdom. Some of you are mature in your faith and are faithful in prayer. If that is you, then I encourage you to pray, diligently, for LCSC, its leaders, staff, and those blessed with the opportunity to come onto these special grounds. Please remember that when we do these things, we are not just offering a Christian camping experience, we helping others to grow in their faith so that they “will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming” (Ephesians 4:14, NIV). That is how we assure that we have done our part to assure that the next generation is prepared to do the same for the generations to follow. That is how we are certain that on that great and glorious day, when God calls us home, He will say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I love you guys. Thank you for partnering with LCSC. Thank you for making sure that our youth have the same opportunity to love and serve Christ, that with which we have been blessed. Thank you for answering God’s call. Gordon
